Innovation lab is a collaborative problem solving workshop we use to generate solutions for our members and external organisations.
The Science
In the past two years we have had conversations with some leading thinkers in this area, including Keith Sawyer, who is the author of Group Genius. His research highlights the inefficiencies of brainstorming. The main factor is the we cannot get past our patterned thoughts. Problem solving activates primitive parts in our brain, which makes our brains want to give us ideas that have worked in the past.
In the innovation labs we use neurological tools to move past patterned thought. We have a portfolio of different neurobic exercises, which create new neurological connections. The new connections turn the brain on and generate new associations this allows participants to truly generate new ideas.
We also use light, language, and embodied cognition to trigger different neurochemicals during the innovation cycle.
The Engineering
Industrial Engineering is widely used in industrial sector to effectively solve complex problems We have extrapolated some of their tools for our labs to drive momentum & purpose to the ideas generated.

The Lab
Each lab includes 6 members of our diverse community, neurobic exercises, environment priming, and problem solving.
Members
They use this the lab for one hour sessions during lunch time. This is included in the membership and they are done once per quarter.
External Organisations
We facilitate a 1 to 2 day labs for external organisations. They pay an agency fee and can be from any sector.
