How Collaboration Works At THECUBE

We asked CUBER Jonathan Lister to tell who he has collaborated at THECUBE. Below is his story.

Who have you collaborated at THECUBE?
I have collaborated with a wide range of people from digital to coworking, below are some of the projects.

Richard White – SeenOnScreenFitness.com
Charlotte Hambly – SweetSpot.com print brochures
Alison Coward – a project proposal Alison was working on
Adam Austin – SEO proposal for SweetSpot
Araceli Camargo – Coworking plans

Would you collaborate again?
Yes!

Why do we encourage our members to collaborate?

THECUBE’s reputation is highly founded on its community. We have worked meticulously to create a space that supports collaboration. Our members generate business leads, bid for jobs together, and share skills. When you are starting a business it can be a lonely process and you need people around you to stimulate ideas and help you generate contacts.

How we create collaboration
1. THECUBE is small and open plan, this helps take  away anonimity and thus encourages people to introduce each other

2. We set up curated introductions amongst our members and outside contacts

3. We hold monthly lunches and roundtables where members can meet each other and share ideas.

About THECUBE

THECUBE is coworking space in Shoreditch, East London dedicated to collaboration, building sustainable businesses, and driving innovation.

Collaboration in Coworking Spaces

Collaboration in coworking spaces seems to be a continual problem. On the one hand the member community has to come in and get on with their work and on the other people are coming to coworking spaces to find collaborators.

Solution 1

Create time during the month when members can move away from their desks and collaborate. Create events at different times of the day to vary the flow of people.

Solution 2

Create a space that is small enough to generate accidental or spontaneous collaboration.

Solution 3

Create a database from which to personally introduce members.

Solution 4

Look into tools that can facilitate collaboration

Solution 5

Create casual lounge areas in the space, which are conducive to conversation.

Summer at THECUBE

HOLD-ONTO-MORE-by-Josephine-Ada-Chinonye-Chime271-1024x678

This is our first summer and we would like to extend our space to support our local community by starting a Think Tank. The summer is a good time to stop and brainstorm, daydream, and in general take things in, so you are ready to implement in the Autumn.

From now until the 31 August we will be opening our doors and creating Open CUBETHINK.

What is Open CUBETHINK?

1. We are interested in learning about our local neighbourhood and what kind of ideas are floating around, what are people talking about  or interested in, so that is why every FRIDAY is Open CUBETHINK.

2. You can either be thinking of an idea, have one, or just curious about THECUBE.

3. Bring your laptop and your thoughts.

4. You will have access to THECUBE coworking space for FREE ( 10-5pm), so you can drop by at any time.

5. THECUBE will organise a 2 hour Think Tanks ( 2-4pm) session with our members.

6. It will be a good opportunity for the community to know more about what we do and who are members are.

7. The Idea Engineering team will be at hand to go over any ideas or problems you are facing.

8. Get to know other like minded idea creators.

9. Any sector, industry, and experience is welcome as diversity is key to collaboration.

10. Walk away with new contacts and ideas that are ready to implement in the Autumn.

11. CUBERS will get to know local members of the community and build their network.

Lucy Mitchell joins THECUBE

LOGO_091109

We introduce to you, Lucy Mitchell. She’s our latest member, and will prove to be an interesting and unique addition to the community. She’s our first member involved in 3D Design (that is set design, styling, visualisation, brand experience), and for us it’s a pretty much new area. We’re gradually building a jigsaw of all creative industries, and we still have a few holes to fill – but we’re definitely getting there.

So, a warm welcome! We’re sure that if anybody has a brand that needs looking after, Lucy is the girl for the job. Her website is undergoing a rebrand itself, but if you want to drop her an email about working with her, it’s

info@lucymitchell.co.uk

So there you go. We’re looking forward to seeing Lucy’s new projects, or any collaborations that might happen here at THECUBE with our other members.
