How to develop ‘tone of voice’ for your business

11 August 2010 13:00-14:00 in the Boardroom Space

Smart, sassy, sophisticated or sultry – every brand needs a personality. At Incontext, we help to create and maintain a company’s tone of voice across all communications.  In this session, we can help you to identify the right tone of voice for your company.

So, what exactly are tone of voice guidelines? Basically, they’re a guide to help you to identify the core values of your brand. They outline how you write, what you write, and even regulate your use of grammatical tools like contractions and pronouns.

Establishing tone of voice is hardly a new phenomenon, but it is now getting more of the attention it deserves. More companies are realising that the words you use, and the way you use them, are just as pivotal to your brand as the colour of your logo.

Established in 2001, Incontext is a niche copywriting agency serving international clients ranging from Coca Cola to Microsoft. With ten years of experience in the industry, this session will be led by Marcie MacLellan, Managing Director of Incontext and lecturer for the London School of Marketing.

CUBELUNCH: It’s the Cave Man Brain

caveman

Contrarian consultant Alastair Dryburgh will explain how the most primitive part of our brain continues to hold us back and frustrate our efforts to innovate, and how we can defeat it.”
“Why would a bank continue to lend aggressively to leveraged buyouts when it
was clear that the market was overheated and multiples becoming extremely stretched? According to Chuck Prince of Citigroup, ‘As long as the music is playing, you’ve got to get up and dance.’

But why? It’s for the same reason that there are twenty wholly
indistinguishable car rental companies at Pisa airport, and Avis have been
trying harder for as long as anyone can remember and are still only number 2.

This will take place in the boardroom meeting space,
